What is LED Pitch or Pixel Pitch and what implications does it have on Event Production?

The pitch of a LED screen defines the distance between the pixels, expressed in MM, otherwise known as millimeters. This determines the characteristics and performance of a LED screen.

-The smaller the pitch, the shorter the minimum viewing distance, the higher is the total number of pixels present on the screen. The bigger the pitch, the longer the minimum viewing distance, the lower the total amount of pixels present.

The pixel pitch essentially determines the density of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in a display. This is typically referred to as resolution. It’s important to point out that when reducing the pitch, the LED density is increased exponentially.

With event production, it’s very important to think about what type of pixel pitch you will need as a reflection of the propinquity or proximity of the viewer in the space. Will the viewers be perceiving the screen from close or from far away? Make sure you have the right equipment for what you’re looking to accomplish at your next event.
