Happy Music Monday folks! Did you happen to catch the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics last night? Nearly 80,000 people from all over the world attended the ceremony, which celebrated music as the foremost British contribution to global culture. From the still smokin’ hot Spice Girls singing their #1 hit song “Wannabe” as they emerge from LED-covered taxis, to the spectacular 3-D puzzle-sculpture of John Lennon’s face, our creative minds were running wild with inspiration. Here is our top 5 favorite moments from last night’s closing ceremony.

1. Archival video of John Lennon singing, “Imagine,” paired with a live 3D sculptural construction of his face, which was put together by performers & could be seen from an aerial view. The footage of John Lennon, which was exclusively remastered by Yoko Ono, was projected on an all-white background. For John Lennon and Beatles fans alike, it was a surreal moment.

2. Digital visualizations while Queen’s lead guitarist, Brian May, lead the crowd in a rendition of “We Will Rock You.”

During the performance, a 360 degree screen projected digital animations that ranged from reverberating sound waves, to psychedelic visualizations. The entire digital performance was made of up boards of nine LED lights behind each and every seat within the arena.

3. The rythmic group, Stomp, symbolically cleaned up London with one of their largest performances to date. The group incorporated the recreations of famous London landmarks that were covered in old British newspaper clippings.

4. Freddie Mercury leading the crowd through opening of “Day-O.” The footage was taken from a 1986 concert in Wembley. The entire stadium erupted in song.

5. The multi-set headlining performance by The Who was the ultimate wrap-up to a visually spectacular event.
